A blending of the colors not necessarily associated with traditional landscapes–pink, teal and brown. Like all of my landscapes, the piece is meant to draw you in— allowing you peace and a vacation from the day to day.
When I created this work, I laid the background down, and before grabbing scrabs I had ear-marked for the trees, a leftover piece of the main background fabrics fell face down on the work. To my surprise, the backside was perfect. A lesson learned. An interesting twist.
Trees uses a technique for its leaves involving sewing tiny bits of fabric together in between water-soluble stabilizer. Once sewn, the stabilizer is dissolved leaving a patchwork of fabric bits –fun to arrange as one wants onto a background. The process of putting together a piece- like trees—ends up being an escape in itself—as one plays with the best positioning of pieces.
