Restoring Waters Info
ACW Emma Norton Teaching Info:
Thank you for being part of our roster of teachers for the Emma Norton Makers Space!
Address: 2265 Hillcrest Ave, St. Paul, MN 55116 (or 801 Mount Curve Blvd, after hours door is on Mount Curve side).
Classes 6-8pm; please arrive at 5 or 5:30 to set up.
Parking: Limited free street parking on Hillcrest, south of building. If full, teachers can use the free parking ramp for the M Health Fairview clinic. Turn onto the driveway off Woodlawn Ave behind Emma Norton complex. Then turn left, and go down into the ramp just before entering the clinic street level parking lot (do not walk up ramp). You’ll need to take the elevator to street level to return to Emma Norton, so you can drop supplies off inside first, or bring a rolling suitcase or rolling cart for your supplies.
Getting In: “Restoring Waters” door on Mount Curve Blvd at building corner at corner of Hillcrest Ave & Mt Curve Blvd. OR enter through “Emma Norton” doors just around the corner on Hillcrest Ave. Doors are locked but Security will let you in. (after 5pm use Mount Curve entrance).
Candy: usually front desk staff on Thursdays & point of contact during each event unless a staff member is present, but the front desk is your fall back person. A resident named Sheree might be able to let you in the art room. She can help with class things.
There is a cabinet key in a lock box for our snacks, drinks, and surveys. Megan will send you a video of how to use the lock box. Please make sure the key is returned to the lock box at the end of class and the residents do not know the code. Sheree is a resident helper who assists with the snacks, but she should not know the lock box code.
STAFF SHOULD LET YOU IN THE ROOM. THEY SHOULDN’T GIVE YOU THE KEYS, BUT IF THEY DO, NEVER LEAVE THE KEYS UNATTENDED OR GIVE THEM TO ANY RESIDENT FOR ANY REASON. MAKE SURE TO RETURN THEM TO THE DESK STAFF AT THE END OF THE DAY IF KEYS ARE GIVEN TO YOU OR CALL MEGAN OR KELLY IF THERE IS AN ISSUE. DON’T LEAVE THEM AT THE DESK IF NO ONE IS THERE. WAIT FOR STAFF TO RETURN FROM ROUNDS OR BATHROOM. SOMEONE WILL BE THERE OR CALL MEGAN.
Clean up at end; put furniture back; Make sure doors are locked.
Can’t get in or emergency? Front Desk: call 651-224-1329 Ext. 834 (always email, text or call Megan if there is an issue so she knows what’s going on, even after it’s solved).

Classroom Setup: there are two tables that hold 4- 5 people each; about 8 chairs, a print/painting drying rack, and a big sink with counter space to get water & wash things out.
Welcoming Participants: Expect 2-8 participants; bring supplies for 10. Some may come early—you can invite them in & ask them to help with set-up if you like. Some may come late—just welcome them & accommodate them to join in where you are.
Supplies on Hand on Shelves: we expect you’ll bring everything you need for your project, but if you need additional supplies or run out, here’s an evolving list of what is usually on hand. You can use these to supplement your supplies, & substitute what you’re missing. (Send receipts for purchased supplies, $50 maximum to Kelly for reimbursement)

IMPORTANT: WE NEED ATTENDANCE AND SURVEYS!!
- Have participants sign in and put a sticker for the class date on the attendance sheet (posted on wall by supply shelf). Barbara takes the resident with the highest attendance on a shopping trip at the end of the semester, so it is important to track attendance.
- Hand out surveys with 2 questions: they are in the cabinet. Photograph filled surveys and send to Megan.
- Ask if anyone is willing to be photographed making art, or just their art; We need permission to use any photos of them on our website. Send photos with permission to Megan.
- If you’re ever unsure about something, text, email, or call Megan 612-770-9238. If you need immediate help and Megan doesn’t answer, call Kelly, Barbara or Layl. Kelly: 651-470-4765 Barbara: 612-845-0416 Layl: 612-201-8056
