Phone: Sally Gibson, Treasurer Liza Ferrari

Voting for Secretary was tabled for the next meeting.

Barbara indicated she will have three new Board members for consideration at the next meeting.   Other Board members are encouraged to recommend candidates.

Treasurer’s P and L  statements and Barbara ‘s  itemized financial report was received. We currently have $2,454.41 with $2,500 coming from Sally Gibson on October 5. Thanks, Sally!  Motion to approve by Margo, second by Craig. Unanimous vote by all for approval.

Director’s Report (received, discussed, approved). Motion to approve  by Margo, second by Craig. Unanimous vote by all of approval.  See Report following.

Barbara has been in touch with the Bush Foundation and we have been invited to re-submit the Coaching Grant.  Barbara will work on this.

Barbara indicated she is going to apply to join the Minneapolis Arts Commission. There was support for this idea.

The Holiday Light/Holiday Dark event was praised by all.  Margo, Craig and Barbara continued to discuss the next steps for ACW.  It was agreed that we would like to explore moving beyond the local “event” mission and move towards expanding our influence and our projects in a wider community.

Two ideas:
1. Develop an “ACW Ambassador” program which would provide $200 in support monies for people to attend conferences, retreats, presentations on their social justice area of interest. They would bring ACW  promotion with them both verbal and hard copy.

  1. Invite the local colleges who have social justice degrees and certificates to attend a meeting/conference/workshop/sharing session (not a panel format). Margo suggested a “speed dating” model.  The ACW members and the general public could be invited.

Barbara, Craig and Margo agreed to bring  three people each to a meeting   to explore next steps of ACW.  All board members are encouraged to attend.  A tentative date was set for Oct 19 at 4:30. LTBA.

Related motions/modifications:

It was agreed that we would offer Suyao Tian  $1,000.00 to curate the Holiday Light/Holiday Dark event.  This will include hanging the show and de-installing it. A contract will be written. Motion to approve  by Margo, second by Craig. Unanimous vote by all of approval.

Next ACW Board meeting is set for December 14, 2019 at 5 p.m. at 2205 California St NE, Suite 201, Minneapolis, MN 55418.

Adjourned 7:29.

Respectfully submitted,

Barbara Bridges
