Zoe is a folk singer-songwriter, classical guitarist, and inter-disciplinary creative originally from the East Coast, now based in the Twin Cities. Zoe received her BA in music at Macalester college where she discovered a passion for breaking down strict barriers between the classical music canon and other forms of musical expression. She explored this idea in her final capstone project where she curated an interdisciplinary recital that combined solo classical guitar repertoire, original songs with arrangements for guitar, cello, violin and piano, as well as a multimedia storytelling component with poetry, video editing, projection design, and narration. With this project, Zoe was interested in creating something innovative, that showcases music’s ability to tell intentional stories.
Zoe feels a true calling towards songwriting as a way to tell stories, to express her own emotions as well as societal injustices. She believes in music as a therapeutic power for individuals and communities as well as a vehicle for social reform; she is very excited to explore these possibilities within ACW.
Zoe currently works with young children at a Montessori school, bringing music into the classroom whenever she can. You can also find Zoe as a gigging artist, playing around the Twin Cities!
