Biography

Sherrill Zheng is a Chinese American interdisciplinary artist currently based in Minneapolis, MN. She is interested in the overlooked and unconsidered, especially within Chinese American experiences and Asian American identity. Using a variety of creation techniques including painting, drawing, moving image, sound, garment-making, poetry, and performance; she utilizes experimental storytelling methods within her art to explore the nuances of subjectivity. She is inspired by trauma-healing, folklore, cultural hybridity, and her life experiences.

Zheng received a BFA in Intermedia and a minor in Art & Ecology from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Her work has been exhibited nationally at venues including the Regis Center for the Arts West Gallery in Minneapolis, the Department of Education Building in Washington, D.C., the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center in New York, the Clinton Street Theater in Portland, and the YoungArts Campus in Miami.
