Biography

Peter Verdoorn is an artist/designer currently living in St. Paul, MN. He grew up just across the St. Croix River in Hudson, Wisconsin. He received his B.D.A (Bachelor's of Design in Architecture) from the University of Minnesota in 2024 where he also completed an art minor. He is passionate about the environment and organizing with community to positively impact those around him. The creative world has always felt like home to him, and he has been involved in the Twin Cities art scene in a variety of ways. He has worked with the Weisman Art Museum as part of their student run WAM Collective as well as interning at Midway Contemporary Art in the fall of 2025. After a year working as an AutoCAD drafter for a cabinet making company, he has shifted his focus back to working in the arts while still pursing a design career.

As far as his own practice, he is inspired by varying aspects of his educational experiences and the media that he consumes daily. Recently, his paintings have been heavily influenced by his undergraduate studies in design and architecture, as well as the process of making itself. It has opened him up to working with mixed-media and incorporating sculptural elements into his work. Oftentimes, he finds pieces take on meaning during the process of making rather than reflecting on said meaning beforehand. He incorporates themes such as consumerism, waste, irreverence, class, industrialization, and absurdity. He gravitates towards acrylics and watercolor as his preferred mediums.
