SUMMARY:Past Forward: An Alchemy of Trauma
DESCRIPTION:March 18th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at \nArt to Change the World HQ\, 2nd Floor\n699 Lowry Ave NE\, Minneapolis\, MN 55418 \nAndrew Braunberger will host a salon night on transformation. \nWe will express in collage\, our trauma as we see it.\nAfter completion we will tear the collages up into small bits and add them together in a blender.\nThe pulp will be mixed with wildflower seeds and added to soil to grow flowers from our trauma’s decay. A small clay symbol of strength will be made of clay and added to the center of the small pot.\nSeveral waterings will dissolve the symbol lovingly into the soil. \nEmail Andrew at andrewlikestopaint@gmail.com to reserve your spot or ask any questions.

SUMMARY:Creative Practice Round Table Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The more you talk about your work\, the clearer its purpose becomes. Let’s get together and discuss our creative practices and goals. Talking about art with other practicing artists is a supportive and sustaining practice in and of itself. Sharing ideas on inspiration and process feeds your own creativity. \nWe will discuss: \n\ncreative practice – what does your creative (art-making) practice look like? Do you create regularly\, on a schedule? Randomly when inspiration hits? Do you work for long stretches\, or a little at a time? What does “studio time” look like for you?\nartistic goals – Are you working towards any specific goals? Draw everyday? Learning new materials? Finish a series? Preparing for an upcoming exhibition? Have a desire to exhibit? A desire to sell?\ninspiration – how and where do you find inspiration for your creative practice?\nprocess – share about your materials and techniques. Why do you choose the materials you use? How do you take an idea and make art? Or do you make art without an idea first?\n\n  \nBring a journal\, work samples and ideas to share\, or feel free to just listen in. Get inspired. Discussion led by member artist Megan Moore. \nRSVP to Megan at megan@meganmoore.com

SUMMARY:TRIAL BY GENDER Book Signing and Author Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Come to a book signing and conversation with Freya Ottem Hanson\, author of the novel TRIAL BY GENDER (released in 2025). The novelist will discuss themes in the novel as exemplified in the challenges of the main character\, Carmen Jamison\, a female attorney who struggles against odds to succeed in a male-dominated profession. The novel takes place in the 1970’s\, a time of change and discrimination\, but one woman defies the odds and challenges the status quo. TRIAL BY GENDER tells a story of resilience and determination\, transporting readers to a world where equality is fragile and prejudice pervades society. The author will have books available or participants may order the novel from Amazon ahead of the gathering.
