SUMMARY:Re (Cover) - Shalee Cole
DESCRIPTION:(Re) Cover – A Creative New Work by Shalee Cole \nTitle: (re) cover: The Campaign\nMedia: Theatre and a Tabletop Role Playing Game\nWritten and Performed by: Shalee Cole\nDirected by: Lauren Edson\nIn Collaboration with: The Right Here Showcase \nMeadowbrook Guild Bounty Board: \nTypically Meadowbrook is a safe and attractive community full of loving families and giggling children. But as of a week ago\, a scourge\, believed to be magical in nature\, has suddenly appeared in our neighborhood. Passersby are reporting radiated debris covering blighted plant life and a revolting stench. Without witnesses or evidence of an inciting event\, We cannot say how the scourge appeared in sleepy Meadowbrook. The Guild has researched recent and historical records of the area\, but believe magic is affecting the community’s memory\, as no one can place what was there before. We fear that the scourge will spread and could cause complete decimation. \nSeeking: Two seasoned surveyors with experience investigating unusual and necrotic events. \nMission: Enter the scourge\, identify the cause\, and report expert recommendations to the guild for immediate action. \n(re)cover: The Campaign is a performative role-playing story. Created by Shalee Mae Cole and determined by two new guests every night before a live audience \nJoin us at the Tek Box at the Cowles Center\, 528 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis\, MN 55403 on November 10-12 at 8:00 pm and November 13 at 7:00 pm \nGet Your Tickets Here!\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-7th-annual-right-here-showcase-tickets-423485365127

SUMMARY:Give to ACW on Give to the Max Day
DESCRIPTION:Donate to ACW this Give To The Max Day (Nov. 17th)! \nIf we do not pay artists\, there will be no artists. This Give to the Max Day (GTMD)\, we need YOUR support to help fund our projects and the people who make them come to life. We are trying to fundraise at least $2\,000 through our GTMD fundraiser. Your contribution will help us pay artists\, make artistry more accessible throughout Minnesota\, fuel positive social change\, and so much more.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA primer on GTMD\, for those who might be unfamiliar: GTMD is Minnesota’s annual giving holiday. It is a grassroots giving event that helps Minnesota non-profits (such as ACW) fundraise and continue to pursue/expand their mission in their communities. \nOrganizations can set up fundraiser pages on GiveMN.org\, which is tallying GTMD donations starting from November 1st until midnight on the 17th – and is distributing over $100\,000 in prize grants to organizations that are fundraising for GTMD! To emphasize\, prize grants will be distributed for early donations as well\, so you are welcome to donate early\, starting on November 1st! In any case\, be sure to bookmark the link on the red Donate button above and set a reminder to donate between November 1st – 17th! \nAfter you make your contribution\, you can choose the project(s) that you want to help fund with your donation by commenting at the bottom of our fundraiser page in the Comments section\, or by emailing info@arttochangetheworld.org. \nIf you would prefer to donate via check\, please do so by sending it to Art To Change The World\, 2323 Monroe St. NE\, Minneapolis\, MN 55418. If you want your donation to go to a specific person or project\, please indicate it on the memo line. \nThe following donors have collectively agreed to split the total raised as a match for GTMD – please consider joining them. To join our matching donor list\, contact us at info@arttochangetheworld.org. You are most likely committing to $300 – $400 – according to how much we raise. \n\nCraig Harris\nKelly Frankenberg\nBarbara Bridges\nLayl McDill\nPat Rogers\n\nLastly\, consider doing a “holiday charity exchange” with friends and family for Give to the Max Day this year! You can support causes that are meaningful to them by agreeing to donate to one another’s fundraisers. Here’s what Layl McDill has to say about it: \n“In 2020\, I wanted to engage my friends and family in ACW’s Give to the Max Day fundraiser\, so I posted to them that I would donate to their charity if they donated to ACW. It was a fun way to spread the love of the organizations that are meaningful in my friends’ and family’s lives and ACW received donations from people outside the organization.  My family even decided to do this ‘charity exchange’ instead of giving gifts that year. \nWatch for your chance to donate to ACW on Give to the Max day on November 17th and consider how you can invite your friends and family to donate too – maybe you can come up with a creative way that works for you!” \nWe hope you can help us reach our $2\,000 goal this Give to the Max Day – be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with our fundraising campaign communications as GTMD approaches! \n\nFacebook\nInstagram\nTikTok

SUMMARY:Don Luce & Ruth Talen Erickson @ Homewood Studios - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:December Gallery Show\nHomewood Studios 2400 Plymouth Ave N\, Minneapolis\, MN 55411\nDon Luce & Ruth Talen Erickson: Painting & Pottery\nDecember 2-23\nOpening Reception – Friday\, December 2 from 5 pm to 8 pm\nGallery Talk – Tuesday\, December 13 beginning at 7 pm \nOur final show of 2022 has long been in the works. Ruth Erickson is a long-time friend of Homewood Studios. Planning for this show began well before Covid put everything on pause\, and we thank both Ruth and Don for their patience. From our point of view\, and we anticipate from that of studio viewers as well\, the wait will be worth it. \nAbout his work\, Don writes: I strive to stimulate people’s curiosity of nature\, deepen their understanding of how nature works and inspire a commitment to protect the natural world. I use painting and drawing to reveal the ecological processes that underlie the landscape and to capture the sense of energy and excitement I feel while exploring nature. \n \nAnd about her work\, Ruth writes: \nThe Japanese concept of “Mengei -the appreciation of the handmade in everyday life”\, has guided my work for over 50 years as a potter. What matters to me when expressing my love of clay is the hope that my pottery is part of your daily life and brings you joy and beauty.

SUMMARY:Noble Truths Studio Visit - Layl McDill
DESCRIPTION:Noble Truths Studio Visit Artists for 2022-2023\nLayl McDill December 6\, 2022\n \nNoble Truths Studio Tour December 6th at 6:00 \nHer studio is located at 2505 Howard St NE \nStep into the wonderland of Layl’s studio in the Flux Arts Building.  She shares her space with her husband Josh Blanc as part of Clay Squared to Infinity. \nLayl’s creates polymer clay sculptures that focus on wonderment and storytelling and Josh makes handmade tiles.   She will give a tour of both her studio and her husband’s.  As an extra bonus Layl will perform one of her stories which she recently told on the Moth Stage at a Story Slam.  And you won’t be able to resist playing with some polymer clay scraps so feel free to play away!– Layl McDill grew up in Gillette\, Wyoming where she began creating at a very young age. Layl received her BFA in Illustration from the Columbus College of Art Design but she found it more exciting to make sculptural work and sell it through galleries and art fairs. \nLayl lives in Minneapolis and is co-owner of Clay Squared to Infinity\, a tile and art studio and showroom in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. She has exhibited her work around the country at art centers\, museums\, and art fairs. Her work is about wonderment and story primarily polymer clay using the millefiori technique. \n“A long time ago in a kitchen in Wichita\, Texas a young mother mixed up another batch of homemade play dough. She made all the colors for her freckle-faced daughter and when her daughter rolled and squished this salty substance something magical happened- she began to turn into an artist.” \nAnd THAT is my origin story. Stories help us make sense of our world and help us connect with others.  My polymer clay sculptures are filled with the sensation of story. When people engage with my work I am often asked  “What is this from?” because my work seems like it’s derived from fables or myths. But soon they realize the stories are all fresh and just a little off-kilter.\nRead More:  http://laylmcdill.com \nSocial Media:  \nWww.laylmcdill.com\nwww.claysquared.com\nhttps://www.facebook.com/layl.mcdill\nhttps://www.instagram.com/laylmcdill \nhttps://www.tiktok.com/@laylmcdill \nTwitter: @ https://twitter.com/laylm \nhttps://www.etsy.com/shop/laylmcdill\nYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/user/laylmcdill\nLinked In https://www.linkedin.com/in/layl-mcdill http://laylmcdill.com\nContact Layl at layl@claysquared.com\, or 612-781-6409 \n

SUMMARY:Bill Cottman - "I am Here" - Homewood Studios Show (Opening Reception)
DESCRIPTION:JANUARY HOMEWOOD GALLERY SHOW \nBILL COTTMAN: I Am Here\nCurated by Seitu Jones\, George Slade\, Davu Seru\, Miko Simmons & Beverly Cottman \nJanuary 6 through 31.  Opening Reception: Friday\, January 6th from 5 pm to 8 pm \n\nHomewood Studios\, 2400 Plymouth Avenue \nKFAI-FM Remote Broadcast from the Galley: Saturday\, January 7 from 9 am to 11 am\nIn-person &/or call-in memories and stories about Bill hosted by Kenna Cottman (Bill’s daughter) and Yonci Peaceful Jameson (Bill’s granddaughter) \nGallery Talk with curators: Tuesday\, January 17. beginning at 7 pm (How this show came together; what we were trying to do. ) \nThe passing\, all too soon\, of Bill Cottman\, one of our community’s most active\, connected\, and important artists\, a little more than a year ago\, has left us all pulsing with memories and believing he is still with us in so many ways.  Thus\, our gallery show to remember him as a photographer\, video artist\, writer\, poet\, and bookmaker. \nTo do his lifetime of work justice\, we would have to hire a huge hall.  Instead\, we have at Beverly Cottman’s suggestion\, invited four artist friends of Bill and Beverly to curate a show touching on several aspects of Bill’s artistic life.  The show includes many of his photographs and photo series\, (of course)\, video work\, his various published books\, and ephemera collected by the curators.  Like all of Bill’s shows in our gallery over the past twenty years\, it will be unpredictable\, surprising\, informative\, revelatory\, and professionally superb. \nIn addition\, anyone with a good Bill Cottman story or memory is invited to attend our gallery in person or call in during the Mostly Jazz program on KFAI-FM\, Saturday\, January 7th from 9 am to 11 am.\n612 587-0230\, www.homewoodstudios.com
