DESCRIPTION:ASL for Small Business Owners in the Art World \nBy Denise Lau \nCome learn basic ASL skills and small talk conversation on Wednesday\, February 11\, 2026\, from 7 – 9 pm at ACW HQ. \nThe Twin Cities are a Deaf Hub because the states that touch us have very limited resources for the Deaf community.  If you haven’t already\, you will encounter Deaf customers looking at your art/crafts.  Knowing the basics on how to interact with them and learning some basic small talk conversation will help you make sales or at least help our Deaf neighbors feel seen and appreciated.  This class will teach you how to appropriately interact with the Deaf community\, teach you basic conversation\, fingerspelling\, numbers\, and the vocabulary for making sales.  There will be props and role playing for learning tools along with paper handouts to study later.  No videotaping allowed.  Please do not bring any pets to this event due to instructor allergies.  You don’t need to bring anything to class except maybe water for yourself.  Active participation is required! \nPlease contact Denise Lau with any questions and to RSVP so I know how many handouts to make at MNdreamArt@gmail.com  Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:The more you talk about your work\, the clearer its purpose becomes. Let’s get together and discuss our creative practices and goals. Talking about art with other practicing artists is a supportive and sustaining practice in and of itself. Sharing ideas on inspiration and process feeds your own creativity. \nWe will discuss: \n\ncreative practice – what does your creative (art-making) practice look like? Do you create regularly\, on a schedule? Randomly when inspiration hits? Do you work for long stretches\, or a little at a time? What does “studio time” look like for you?\nartistic goals – Are you working towards any specific goals? Draw everyday? Learning new materials? Finish a series? Preparing for an upcoming exhibition? Have a desire to exhibit? A desire to sell?\ninspiration – how and where do you find inspiration for your creative practice?\nprocess – share about your materials and techniques. Why do you choose the materials you use? How do you take an idea and make art? Or do you make art without an idea first?\n\n  \nBring a journal\, work samples and ideas to share\, or feel free to just listen in. Get inspired. SUMMARY:Training for Trauma Informed Teaching
