SUMMARY:(Re) Cover - Shalee Cole
DESCRIPTION:(Re) Cover – A Creative New Work by Shalee Cole \nTitle: (re) cover: The Campaign\nMedia: Theatre and a Tabletop Role Playing Game\nWritten and Performed by: Shalee Cole\nDirected by: Lauren Edson\nIn Collaboration with: The Right Here Showcase \nMeadowbrook Guild Bounty Board: \nTypically Meadowbrook is a safe and attractive community full of loving families and giggling children. But as of a week ago\, a scourge\, believed to be magical in nature\, has suddenly appeared in our neighborhood. Passersby are reporting radiated debris covering blighted plant life and a revolting stench. Without witnesses or evidence of an inciting event\, We cannot say how the scourge appeared in sleepy Meadowbrook. The Guild has researched recent and historical records of the area\, but believe magic is affecting the community’s memory\, as no one can place what was there before. We fear that the scourge will spread and could cause complete decimation. \nSeeking: Two seasoned surveyors with experience investigating unusual and necrotic events. \nMission: Enter the scourge\, identify the cause\, and report expert recommendations to the guild for immediate action. \n(re)cover: The Campaign is a performative role-playing story. Created by Shalee Mae Cole and determined by two new guests every night before a live audience \nJoin us at the Tek Box at the Cowles Center\, 528 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis\, MN 55403 on November 10-12 at 8:00 pm and November 13 at 7:00 pm \nGet Your Tickets Here!\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-7th-annual-right-here-showcase-tickets-423485365127

SUMMARY:Opening Night - MWMO Sculpture @ Homewood Studios
DESCRIPTION:One River’s Trash is the Same River’s Treasure -Unveiling \n \nTitle: Mississippi River Pearl   2022\nDimensions :  4’ W X 5’ W x 6’ T \nMedia: Mixed Media- Mississippi River Trash and objects with a previous history\nAn Art to Change the World Collaboration: Project Manager Barbara Bridges and group members Frances Bates\, Amáda Márquez Simula\, Greg Volker\, Margo Ashmore\, Annie Merrell\, Neil Granlund\, Katherine Boyce\, Alexis Schramel\, and Kelly Frankenberg. \nJoin us at Homewood Studios\, 2400 Plymouth Avenue North\nMinneapolis\, MN 55411 on November 11 from 5:00-8:00   https://homewoodstudios.com\nThe creation of Pearl was funded by a Mississippi Watershed Management Organization Stewardship Fund Program grant and the project led ten people to meet\, collect trash along the Mississippi and participate in an immersive curriculum unit which was collaboratively developed by Barbara and the participants themselves – including a scientist\, journalist\, mayor\, teachers\, and artists! \nAll participants created this elegant artwork using the found river debris and other hand-constructed and found objects. With one of the goals being to educate people about the plastics we find on our waterways\, they repurposed objects with a history to create a new narrative. Paper was made by Alexis from the debris collected. The quilted seat was commissioned from ACW quiltmaker\, Lucy Schroepfer out of fabric found along the river. John Olson\, from River Keepers\, helped us forage on the west side of the river in his electric pontoon. The project participants met eight times in September and October. \nOpen all 21 drawers! Take a memento and research card or two. Sit on the throne\, meditate and snap a photo. Post on Facebook\, Instagram\, or TikTok using #ArtToChangeTheWorld and #MississippiRiverPearl. Send us that photo! Leave us your impressions in the survey drawer for a chance to win an ACW t-shirt.\nRead about the project:  https://www.arttochangetheworld.org/mississippi-watershed-management-organization-project \nMill City Times features  MWMO water project and ACW Director\, Barbara Bridges. \nhttp://millcitytimes.com/news/changemaker-barbara-bridges-founder-and-director-art-to-chan.html?fbclid=IwAR2Z7Ije-bDPUC6U_D4OBLdECZ9Ht-FS-tO16nr-dHlMNj8mXzAafAHNWMQ \nSee the TikTok Video created by Amáda Márquez Simula\nhttps://www.instagram.com/p/CkHn3xzA82m/ \nRead More about the project: https://www.arttochangetheworld.org/mississippi-management-and-watershed-project

SUMMARY:Native American Heritage Month: Honor Truth Telling
DESCRIPTION:Honor Truth Telling \nby Laura Mann Hill -ACW D and I Coordinator \nPhoto by Forrest Hill\, shared with permission from Daren Hill\, ACW member \n“Indigenous people are not relics of the past. We are still here\, and we continue to demonstrate our talents and gifts amidst a backdrop of ongoing colonialism and oppression. We are worth celebrating.” —Native Governance Center \nWhen my daughter was 9 years old\, we had many conversations about the way Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) were represented in her textbooks\, especially as she learned more about American history and colonization. “Mom\, this is a lie. They should tell us the truth…we can handle it” she said. My daughter is now 12 and attends a school that centers on a social justice curriculum\, but we still have these conversations about text and media she encounters. November is National Native American Heritage Month\, offering all of us an opportunity to embrace truth. As people living in\, Mni Sota Makoce or Minnesota\, we should not only acknowledge that we are on the homeland of the Dakota people; and a home for many other Indigenous nations\, including the Anishinaabe and the Ho-Chunk people. We have the responsibility to move beyond acknowledgments towards actions. We must continue to do the work to dismantle racism and white supremacy as artists and community members to repair the harms of colonization and honor truth-telling. What can we do today to radically change the way future generations speak about the past? \nA few resources to start exploring this month and all year: \nBdote Memory Map: http://bdotememorymap.org/\nDakota Land Map: https://marlenamyl.es/project/dakota-land-map/\nUpcoming Events https://nativegov.org/events/\nReclaiming Native Truth: https://rnt.firstnations.org/\nTruthsgiving: https://www.truthsgiving.org/resources\nLearn about Treaties: https://mn350.org/campaigns/treatypledge/\nBlack Liberation and Indigenous Sovereignty: https://usdac.us/news/2021/9/21/envisioning-black-liberation-and-indigenous-sovereignty\nLand Reparations: https://resourcegeneration.org/land-reparations-indigenous-solidarity-action-guide/

SUMMARY:Submit Copy for ACW Newsletter
DESCRIPTION:How to Submit Newsletter Copy\nWelcome! \n\n\n\n\nThe Newsletter is  a member benefit and the place where the ACW membership stays informed\, builds community and finds opportunities. Each article should have the what\, where\, when\, and who front and center.  Always include  a hot link for the reader to learn more.  Send one picture.  Please submit the copy exactly as you would like it to appear.  You can do this right on the email to me drb@bridgescreate.com \nI know you understand that when we have 15-20 articles…it becomes unmanageable for me to chase for missing elements and hotlinks.  Thanks so much for your mercy!! \nALL News welcome.  Exhibitions\, projects\, honors\, opportunities\, art equipment for swap or sale\, editorials welcome! \nBarbara \n__________________________________________________________________________________ \nExample: \n \nSEPTEMBER’S GALLERY SHOW AT HOMEWOOD STUDIOS \n“inside my hands: the covid year”\ndrawings and poems by dougie padilla\nOpening reception – Friday\, September 10th from 6pm to 9pmdougie will offer a poetry reading on Tuesday\, September 28th at 7pm \nOur third show since reopening the gallery after Covid continues artwork that expresses itself in vibrant colors\, exuberant gestures and inviting vistas.  The drawings and poetry broadsides by dougie padilla do just that.  As his title suggests\, the work presented was produced during our time of covid and seem an antidote to the sequestering and darkness we all experienced. \nAbout his work\, padilla writes: \n1) during the covid year I went dynamite creative nuts more than ever and painted and drew and wrote poems intensely and incessantly and obsessively about this quite insane and oft delightful world we live in\, and  \n 2) this show of drawings and poems are just the tip of that iceberg. \nPlease note:  Plymouth Avenue\, where Homewood Studios lives\, is currently undergoing a complete rebuilding and is more or less impassable.  Please go to our website – www.homewoodstudiods.com – for current driving and parking directions.
