SUMMARY:Re (Cover) - Shalee Cole
DESCRIPTION:(Re) Cover – A Creative New Work by Shalee Cole \nTitle: (re) cover: The Campaign\nMedia: Theatre and a Tabletop Role Playing Game\nWritten and Performed by: Shalee Cole\nDirected by: Lauren Edson\nIn Collaboration with: The Right Here Showcase \nMeadowbrook Guild Bounty Board: \nTypically Meadowbrook is a safe and attractive community full of loving families and giggling children. But as of a week ago\, a scourge\, believed to be magical in nature\, has suddenly appeared in our neighborhood. Passersby are reporting radiated debris covering blighted plant life and a revolting stench. Without witnesses or evidence of an inciting event\, We cannot say how the scourge appeared in sleepy Meadowbrook. The Guild has researched recent and historical records of the area\, but believe magic is affecting the community’s memory\, as no one can place what was there before. We fear that the scourge will spread and could cause complete decimation. \nSeeking: Two seasoned surveyors with experience investigating unusual and necrotic events. \nMission: Enter the scourge\, identify the cause\, and report expert recommendations to the guild for immediate action. \n(re)cover: The Campaign is a performative role-playing story. Created by Shalee Mae Cole and determined by two new guests every night before a live audience \nJoin us at the Tek Box at the Cowles Center\, 528 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis\, MN 55403 on November 10-12 at 8:00 pm and November 13 at 7:00 pm \nGet Your Tickets Here!\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-7th-annual-right-here-showcase-tickets-423485365127

SUMMARY:Opening Night - MWMO Sculpture @ Homewood Studios
DESCRIPTION:One River’s Trash is the Same River’s Treasure -Unveiling \n \nTitle: Mississippi River Pearl   2022\nDimensions :  4’ W X 5’ W x 6’ T \nMedia: Mixed Media- Mississippi River Trash and objects with a previous history\nAn Art to Change the World Collaboration: Project Manager Barbara Bridges and group members Frances Bates\, Amáda Márquez Simula\, Greg Volker\, Margo Ashmore\, Annie Merrell\, Neil Granlund\, Katherine Boyce\, Alexis Schramel\, and Kelly Frankenberg. \nJoin us at Homewood Studios\, 2400 Plymouth Avenue North\nMinneapolis\, MN 55411 on November 11 from 5:00-8:00   https://homewoodstudios.com\nThe creation of Pearl was funded by a Mississippi Watershed Management Organization Stewardship Fund Program grant and the project led ten people to meet\, collect trash along the Mississippi and participate in an immersive curriculum unit which was collaboratively developed by Barbara and the participants themselves – including a scientist\, journalist\, mayor\, teachers\, and artists! \nAll participants created this elegant artwork using the found river debris and other hand-constructed and found objects. With one of the goals being to educate people about the plastics we find on our waterways\, they repurposed objects with a history to create a new narrative. Paper was made by Alexis from the debris collected. The quilted seat was commissioned from ACW quiltmaker\, Lucy Schroepfer out of fabric found along the river. John Olson\, from River Keepers\, helped us forage on the west side of the river in his electric pontoon. The project participants met eight times in September and October. \nOpen all 21 drawers! Take a memento and research card or two. Sit on the throne\, meditate and snap a photo. Post on Facebook\, Instagram\, or TikTok using #ArtToChangeTheWorld and #MississippiRiverPearl. Send us that photo! Leave us your impressions in the survey drawer for a chance to win an ACW t-shirt.\nRead about the project:  https://www.arttochangetheworld.org/mississippi-watershed-management-organization-project \nMill City Times features  MWMO water project and ACW Director\, Barbara Bridges. \nhttp://millcitytimes.com/news/changemaker-barbara-bridges-founder-and-director-art-to-chan.html?fbclid=IwAR2Z7Ije-bDPUC6U_D4OBLdECZ9Ht-FS-tO16nr-dHlMNj8mXzAafAHNWMQ \nSee the TikTok Video created by Amáda Márquez Simula\nhttps://www.instagram.com/p/CkHn3xzA82m/ \nRead More about the project: https://www.arttochangetheworld.org/mississippi-management-and-watershed-project

SUMMARY:Frances Bates @ Fox Den: White Tiger Inventions
DESCRIPTION:A message from Frances Bates  \nHello ACW\, \nMy name is Frances and I have my first ever solo art show coming up. I have been making art since I was little\, so this is a dream come true. If you are curious why you keep seeing me use a tiger design for everything\, I’ll tell you the story. White tigers specifically have been my favorite animal ever since I can remember. That love of tigers lead me to include it in emails\, social media accounts\, and of course my art workshop. Many of those close to me have been recipients of my art and now I am sharing it with the world. If you want to be part of this momentous occasion\, please come check my work\, or what I like to call White Tiger Inventions\, at the Fox Den in October. \nHope to see you there! \nFrances Bates (She/her) \nfrancesbates22@gmail.com \nfrancesbates22.wixsite.com/portfolio

SUMMARY:October Gallery Show - Homewood Studios (Opening Reception)
DESCRIPTION:OCTOBER GALLERY SHOW – HOMEWOOD STUDIOS \nShow Run: October 7th – October 29th\nOpening Reception: October 7th 2022\, 5:00 to 8:00pm\n2400 Plymouth Ave N\, Minneapolis\, MN 55411\nZoom Gallery Talk: Tuesday\, October 18th\, 7:00 pm Connect to Virtual Talk at:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/4356847453?pwd=SGV2V2FzalZ3NmZvcUZOK3o2ekN4Zz09 \nGallery Hours:\nTuesday 5:00 to 8:00 pm\, Wednesday and Friday 1:00 to 6:00 pm\nSaturday 1:00 to 4:00pm\, Sunday 12:00pm to 4:00pm\nIn the Moment website link:\nhttps://hpcinthemoment.myportfolio.com/ \nThe Homewood Photo Collective\,  founded and curated by Homewood Studios Resident Artist meets monthly to view and comment on members’ work\, discuss trends in photography\, and provide general encouragement and support to each other.  In the past few years\, the group has grown and blossomed\, to the point where now twenty photographers are participating in this current show. \nLarry Risser\, Homewood Photo Collective member\, offers this artist’s statement for the group:\nAs matter is composed of atoms\, so our lives are composed of moments. And\, as we may give little thought to the motions of atoms\, so we often fill our days\, months\, and years with only passing notice of the moments that define the arc of our lives.  It is when major events stop us short\, cutting off the cascade of daily moments\, that we pause to reflect on the moments of joy and loss\, success and setback\, hope and despair that have filled our lives. \nWith this exhibit\, we invite you the viewer to pause with us and consider the larger significance of the moment that the photographer has caught and let that image resonate with moments in your own life. \nRegular subscribers\, please note the Sunday hours added for this show.

SUMMARY:Homewood Studios - September Gallery Show
DESCRIPTION:Homewood Studios SEPTEMBER GALLERY SHOW \n2400 Plymouth Ave N\, Minneapolis\, MN 55411 \n\n“NEGATIVE CAPABILITY”\nMarion Angelica\, ceramics\nSeptember 2 through 30\, 2022\n\nClosing Reception / Gallery Talk – Friday\, September 30\, 6 pm to 9 pm\nRomantic poet John Keats wrote of the ability to suspend judgment about something in order to learn more about it\, implying the ability to resist explaining away what we do not understand. He called this negative capability. Recently\, our September exhibiting artist\, Marini Angelica\, has been creating ceramics work laced with open spaces. She is not sure why\, but she has chosen to trust the impulse\, to go with it. The work in this show\, full of the hallmarks of Angelica’s work – intriguing surfaces\, unexceed shapes\, graceful line\,s and surprising color – carried us\, with her\, into these inviting spaces of not knowing. \nRead More: https://homewoodstudios.com

SUMMARY:Picture Gallery of the Soul - Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Katherine E. Nash Gallery\n\nOur Own Herman Milligan presents A Picture Gallery of the Soul\nSeptember 13 – December 10\, 2022\n\nAbout the Exhibition\nThe Katherine E. Nash Gallery presents A Picture Gallery of the Soul\, a group exhibition of over 100 Black American artists whose practice incorporates the photographic medium. Sampling a range of photographic expressions from traditional photography to mixed media and conceptual art and spanning a timeframe that includes the 19th\, 20th\, and 21st centuries\, the exhibition honors\, celebrates\, investigates\, and interprets Black history\, culture\, and politics in the United States. \nFrom the daguerreotypes made by Jules Lion in New Orleans in 1840 to the Instagram post of the Baltimore Uprising made by Devin Allen in 2015\, photography has chronicled Black American life and Black Americans have defined the possibilities of photography. Frederick Douglass\, a former enslaved person\, and nationally prominent abolitionist recognized the quick\, easy and inexpensive reproducibility of photography. He presciently developed a theoretical framework for understanding the implications of photography on public discourse in a series of four lectures. The exhibition title comes from Douglass’ Lecture on Pictures\, delivered in Boston in 1861 during the Civil War. \nRelated Events \nA companion exhibition of photographs made by Gordon Parks High School students will be on view from September 13 – October 8 in the Quarter Gallery at Regis Center for Art. Learn more about the exhibition. \nVirtual Keynote | Thursday\, September 15 | 6:30 pm | Online\nPresentation with Prof. Deborah Willis\, New York University \nRegistration required: https://z.umn.edu/Prof_Deborah_Willis \nOpening Program | Thursday\, September 22 | 6:00 – 7:00 pm | InFlux Space\, Regis Center for Art \nPresentation with the exhibition curators and visiting scholar lecture \nMining the Archive of Black Life and Culture\, Prof. Cheryl Finley\, Cornell University\nRegistration required: https://z.umn.edu/RegisRSVP \nPublic Reception | Thursday\, September 22 | 7:00 – 9:00 pm | Katherine E.
